Yutong’s new energy buses have been long recognized by the market, but its technical advantage in other aspects shall not be ignored. The first domestic prototype city bus with full-alu body, which was jointly developed by Yutong and Alcoa, has been completed. The body weight is cut by approximately 46% and whole vehicle weight by 12%.

It is learned that the fuel efficiency can be increased by 6% -8% when the weight of a whole vehicle is reduced by 10%. Therefore, the lightweight technology is of great importance for energy efficiency and emission reduction. The price of the bus is about one million yuan, its fuel-efficient effect is approximately equal to that of a hybrid bus. The technical upgrade of aluminum alloy, price reduction of raw materials, price hike of petroleum and improvement of energy efficiency index would help to popularize the lightweight technology.
