Yutong Ranks First in Sales of Battery Electric Buses in Europe
Recently, the Chinese brand won another victory overseas. By virtue of its superior product, Yutong tops the list of the sales volume of battery electric buses in Europe in 2022. According to the statistics of Chatrou CME Solutions (Europe), Yutong ranks the first with 479 registrations as of December 31, 2022. This has also proved worldwide the hard-core strength of Yutong and other China’s bus brands in the new energy field.
As a consulting firm from the Netherlands, Chatrou CME Solutions has been following data trends in the new energy commercial vehicle market for a long time. According to the statistics, the registered e-buses in Europe in 2022 increased by 26% year-on-year, reaching 4,152 units, which also means the operation of zero-emission vehicles in the European city bus market has reached 30%.
Quality development helps Chinese buses shine worldwide
In Europe where the world’s bus industry was born, Yutong, as a Chinese leading bus brand, has been appealing to the local market during the green transformation of European public transport. In 2022, the sales of Yutong battery electric buses increased substantially by 58% from 2021, the market share rocketing from 9.2% in 2021 to 11.5% in 2022 to surpass European brands such as Mercedes and Volvo. This is also an indirect evidence that Yutong’s NEV technical build-up has reached a high level in the world.
At present, European countries are positive about the promotion of zero-emission public transport. As a leader in the bus industry, Yutong is actively transforming from a bus manufacturer to a supplier of green mobility solutions, consistent in developing overseas markets with the "Yutong model" of "product + service" to help China’s buses shine globally.
Winning the market with strength and expansion in Europe step-by-step
Against the backdrop of booming new energy markets in recent years, Yutong’s international strategy has ushered in great opportunities, powered by its core advantages accumulated in products, services, solutions and technologies. At the COP26, Yutong was invited to attend as a representative of "Made in China" in public mobility. During the event, apart from 55 Yutong battery electric buses serving the public travel, the company launched the zero-carbon initiative together with the UITP and world-renowned operators. In Chile where Yutong’s flagship battery electric bus T13E was first launched worldwide and delivered, Yutong has worked with the local government and customers to jointly establish the Team Zero to help the country further improve the urban public transport system and realize the dream of green bus. During the international football event in Qatar in 2022, 888 Yutong battery electric buses have joined the fleet to support the public mobility, showing the charm of green travel to tourists around the world.
Fundamentally speaking, the continued expansion of Yutong in Europe is attributable to its pursuit of excellence and comprehensive strength. Since its local market entry in 2018, Yutong has sold more than 2,200 units in Europe, covering Poland, Denmark, France, Finland, Norway, the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Iceland and other European countries. Whether it’s the delivery of the 500th bus to the UK, or the entry of battery electric buses into the four northern European countries, or the largest single-batch order of battery electric bus in Europe during the COVID, or the establishment of Europe’s first central parts warehouse in Lens, France, Yutong has gradually won recognition in European developed countries where environmental regulations are extremely strict.
Up to now, Yutong has sold more than 170,000 units of new energy buses worldwide. In the future, Yutong will work harder to become a world-leading bus and mobility solution provider by relying on a more sound product lineup and a more advanced bus technology.
