On June 24, a meeting conflating the national sci-tech conference, the national science and technology award conference, and the general assemblies of the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering was held in Beijing. It released the winners of the 2023 State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, Natural Science Award, Technological Invention Award, Science and Technology Progress Award and International Science and Technology Cooperation Award. Yutong’s project Key Technologies for R&D and Manufacturing of Traction Battery for Large-scale Industrialization won the Second Prize of 2023 National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Before that, Yutong has already won the same award in 2012, 2015 and 2019, which fully showcases Yutong’s strong technology R&D and innovation capabilities.

Traction batteries, the core components of new energy vehicles, have always been a big issue for producers and customers. Therefore, the innovative R&D and application of battery technologies is of great importance to promote high-quality transformation and upgrading of the industry.

Focusing on the traction battery system, Yutong has developed technologies for commercial vehicles featuring all-condition reliability, all-climate adaptability and around-the-clock safety. These traction battery technologies take the lead in the global bus industry. Based on its YESS bus battery safety protection technology, Yutong has also developed technologies and devices such as the on-board nitrogen generation module based on aviation-grade nitrogen and oxygen separation technology, the high-strength anti-collision fence with energy absorption and buffering functions, the ultra-high temperature protection devices, the efficient protection devices for whole vehicle components, and the all-day and all-scenario monitoring technology. With these technology portfolios, Yutong’s vehicles become safer and more adaptive to diverse climate and road conditions.

Winning China’s top sci-tech awards for many times is attributed to Yutong’s philosophy of unremitting pursuit of new quality productive forces and approach of continuous innovation in key technologies. Yutong has won worldwide recognition with its leading technologies and products as new energy vehicles are gaining ground.
