With an enthusiastic response from the public and active participation from the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH), Yutong’s “Let’s Go Green” campaign event was successfully held in the heart of the city, spreading the message of sustainable and eco-friendly mobility across Northern Greece.

The event formed part of Yutong’s wider initiative—led by the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy buses—aimed at raising environmental awareness and supporting the transition of Greek public transport networks toward low-emission models.

Attendees included OASTH executives, local government representatives, and a large number of citizens. Special attention was drawn by interactive activities for both children and adults, such as environmental quizzes, social media challenges, and a “Wall of Support” for green transport. Free public transport cards were also distributed, encouraging residents to experience the benefits of electric buses and adopt more sustainable modes of transportation.

As Mr. Allen Liu, Managing Director of Yutong Southern Europe, stated:
“Thessaloniki is not just a stop on our campaign route, it is a partner in shaping the future of mobility. The participation of OASTH and the local community proves that the green transition is now a shared mission”.

As Mr. loannis Toskas, the CEO of OESTH mentioned, OASTH has responded proactively and executed effectively in the process of energy transition. In the coming years, the energy transition of Thessaloniki’s public transport will continue to advance.

“We are looking ahead to the future of mobility — a future shaped by vision, innovation, and sustainability. We look forward to working with more partners in the public sector, where everyone is encouraged to take part and move forward together.”

Mr. Konstantinos Taggiris, Chairman of the Board and CEO of OASTH, said that Let's Go Green is a meaningful initiative that helps the public understand the value of electric bus technology in promoting environmentally friendly urban transport.

Mr. Taggiris highlighted in his speech three main benefits of electric buses after their first year of operation:1. Environmental: Zero noise and emissions, with proven improvements to urban air quality.2. Economic: A 29% reduction in diesel use by replacing 110 diesel buses, saving €3 million.3. Social: Positive public perception has reshaped attitudes toward public transport and boosted city confidence.

Thessaloniki is already playing a key role in this new era of sustainable mobility, with the integration of Yutong electric buses into the OASTH fleet, as part of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport’s strategy for low-carbon urban transport solutions.

The “Let’s Go Green” initiative will continue its journey across Greece, aiming to engage even more citizens and stakeholders, and to build a network of responsibility, innovation, and environmentally conscious urban living.
