700 Yutong Buses Delivered to Turkmenistan with Ambassadors in Attendance
Ashgabat’s white marble architecture and autumn foliage provided the backdrop for a major boost to the city’s public transport system, as 700 new Yutong buses rolled into service.
The handover ceremony was attended by senior government officials, local community representatives, and foreign diplomats, including the Chinese Ambassador and Tajik Ambassador to Turkmenistan.
Modern Buses, Better Travel Experience
The 12-meter buses meet Euro V emission standards and are equipped with energy-efficient engines, air conditioning, onboard WiFi, and USB ports. Accessibility features including wheelchair ramps aim to make public transport more inclusive.
Residents welcomed the new buses enthusiastically on their first day of operation. “They’re spacious, smooth, and comfortable—a real upgrade for our city,” said one local passenger after a trial ride.
Strengthening China-Turkmenistan Ties
Foreign diplomats joined a bus tour through Ashgabat following the ceremony. Chinese Ambassador Ji Shumin highlighted the broader relationship: “Over the past three decades, China and Turkmenistan have achieved remarkable progress in infrastructure, energy, and transportation. The delivery of these Yutong buses is a vivid example of our deepening partnership and mutual benefit.”
Tajik Ambassador Niyatbekzoda Vafo Alibek noted: “The buses represent not just better transport, but a step toward national modernization. Yutong buses bring comfortable, green, and efficient travel experiences to the people of Ashgabat.”
Jasur Ashurov, Counselor of the Uzbekistan Embassy, said: “These buses provide better mobility options for the public. Congratulations to the people of Turkmenistan.”
Moving Forward Together Toward a Brighter Future
The new fleet is served as an Independence Day gift ahead of Turkmenistan’s 34th anniversary on September 27. The buses will soon run through the capital’s streets as both a practical mobility solution and a symbol of progress.
In recent years, China-Turkmenistan relations have evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership, with cooperation spanning energy, transportation, digital technologies, cultural exchanges, etc.
As these buses begin service, Ashgabat’s streets tell a story of international partnership and a shared route toward a brighter and more connected future.
