202 Yutong Battery Electric Buses Delivered to Tashkent, Accelerating Uzbekistan’s Green Transportation Upgrade
On October 13, Tashkent officially took delivery of 202 Yutong battery electric buses E12PRO. Financed by the Export-Import Bank of China, this project is a vivid example of effective multilateral cooperation, injecting new momentum into the city’s green development.

The handover ceremony, held at the Tashkent Bus Company’s Depot No. 2, was attended by government officials including Ilkhom Makhkamov, Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Buranovich Umurzakov, Mayor of Tashkent City, and Wang Jiwei, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan, representatives from the Export-Import Bank of China, alongside local stakeholders and media representatives.

Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov emphasized the importance of green transportation within the national “Uzbekistan–2030” strategy, acknowledging Yutong’s role in bringing advanced electric mobility solutions to the country.

Mayor Shavkat Buranovich Umurzakov echoed the sentiment, noting that the Yutong’s battery electric buses will significantly enhance the quality of public transit while helping to improve air quality for a greener, more livable capital.

Wang Jiwei, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan, highlighted the growing cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in infrastructure, energy and transportation, pointing to the delivery as a tangible outcome of deepening bilateral ties.

The buses delivered were Yutong’s E12PRO model, which features broader driving range, lower energy consumption, zero emissions, low noise, and easy maintenance. The spacious and bright interiors come with air conditioning, USB charging ports, and wheelchair-accessible designs, all to ensure a comfortable, convenient experience for every passenger.

Li Haifeng, CEO of Yutong Central Asia, said: “We will continue to drive innovation and provide high-quality products and services to partner with Tashkent to accelerate the shift toward smart electric mobility.”

To prepare for the rollout, Yutong has trained 450 drivers and maintenance personnel from the Tashkent Bus Company. With this delivery, Tashkent now operates 534 Yutong electric buses and 267 charging units, reinforcing Yutong’s role as a key partner in Uzbekistan’s electric transit expansion.

The new buses are set to enter service this October, providing Tashkent residents with cleaner and more efficient transportation while underscoring the city’s commitment to a sustainable future.
