The 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) was recently held in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. As the transportation service provider designated by the Public Transport Policy Department of Ulaanbaatar for the conference, 110 Yutong buses provided shuttle services for conference delegates.

Pre‑event Preparation, Capitalizing on Local Services

The conference brought together leaders, media representatives, and industry delegates from 197 countries. To ensure reliable transportation support, Yutong initiated preparations a month in advance, assembling a dedicated service team composed of local service teams, staff, and regional suppliers.

Prior to the event, the team conducted simulation drills along actual service routes to identify and resolve operational bottlenecks early. They also prepared spare parts, maintenance tools, and other service resources suited to local operating conditions while strengthening vehicle dispatch arrangements and emergency response plans. These efforts helped ensure stable and efficient transportation services throughout the conference. With its service team fully integrated into local operational systems, Yutong draws on its localized service strengths to deliver robust support for the conference.

Driving Green Mobility, Supporting Sustainable Development

Combating desertification and advancing the transition to green transportation are both important to sustainable development. Since establishing its new energy R&D team in 1997, Yutong has continuously advanced the research, development, and promotion of new energy bus technologies to accelerate the transition of public transport toward clean energy. By the end of 2025, Yutong had promoted more than 210,000 new energy buses worldwide, serving public transit networks across numerous countries and regions.

Beyond transport, Yutong’s green practices extend into land restoration. In 2024, Yutong launched the “One Bus One Tree” Zero-Carbon Forest Program, pledging to plant one tree worldwide for every Yutong bus delivered. By the end of 2025, the program had been implemented in countries including China, Chile, Mexico, and the UK, with a total of 83,700 trees planted. In Minqin, Gansu Province, China, 66,900 saxaul trees have been planted, with a survival rate of 90%, covering approximately 700,000 square meters of desertified land and contributing to local ecological restoration.
